Business Development Representative

The Business Development Representative creates and oversees the implementation of a strategic approach to fundraising which may include major gifts, corporate donations, grant solicitation, and in-kind resources. The Business Development Representative is the liaison to Call for Help's corporate partners; strengthens relationships, organizes donor engagement opportunities, and maximizes resources for Call for Help.


As a part of the Call for Help team, the Business Development Representative is essential to the development and implementation of the agency’s strategies to engage donors and improve its revenue position. This outward-facing role requires the candidate to be a leader who has the demonstrated ability to build strong, mutually beneficial relationships. In conjunction with the Executive Director and other staff, the Representative will help develop and execute overall strategies to engage donors. The Business Development Representative is responsible for creating and executing the short and long-term account plans for each organization to realize substantial revenue growth.

 

DUTIES

  • Collaborate with the Board of Directors and Executive Director to create a fund development plan which increases revenues to support the strategic direction of the organization

  • Develop, coordinate monitor, and evaluate all fundraising activities to ensure that the fundraising goals are being achieved and carried out in a timely manner

  • Monitor trends in the community or region and adapt fundraising strategies as necessary

  • Organize fund development activities

  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for the development department which reflect ethical fundraising practices

  • Prepare and submit grant applications as outlined in the fund development plan 

  • Oversee the planning and execution of special fundraising events as specified in the fund development

  • Oversee the administration of a donor mailing list and database which respects the privacy and confidentiality of donor information

  • Coordinate in-kind donations and make decisions regarding the issuing of receipts

  • Develop and gain approval for an annual income and expenditure budget for the fund development program

  • Prepare regular reports on progress, budgets, receipts, and expenditure related to fundraising and the management of the fund development activities

  • Monitor expenses and analyze budget reports on fund development and recommend changes as necessary

  • Develop a comprehensive communication plan to promote the organization to its donors and maximize public awareness of the fundraising activities and special events of the organization

  • Coordinate the design, printing, and distribution of marketing and communication materials for development efforts

  • Develop an annual grants strategy including cultivating and soliciting new grants

  • Work collaboratively with staff members to identify avenues of economic support for programs/projects

  • Develop strategies for and coordinate all fund-raising activities of the agency in keeping with agency goals

  • Aggressively seek new corporate foundations, community stakeholders, and individual funding sources and maintain relationships with current/past donors.

  • Write high-quality grant proposal narratives, applications, and supporting documents

  • Responsible for researching, collecting data, and writing each grant

  • Manage the proposal submission process to ensure timely submission of all required materials by maintaining and creating a proposal calendar

  • Coordinate and follow up on the progress of submitted proposals

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A bachelor’s degree required

  • Demonstrated excellence in organizational and communication skills

  • Must embrace the mission of Call for Help, Inc

  • Have knowledge and experience in fundraising techniques, particularly major gift fundraising.

  • Possess the skills to work with and motivate staff, board members, and other volunteers.

  • Have the desire to get out of the office and build external relationships.

  • Be a “self-starter” and goal-driven to initiate donor visits and fundraising calls.

  • Be organized and exhibit “follow through” on tasks and goals.
